Repertory Dance Theatre of Texas Performing Company (RDTT):

Repertory Dance Theatre of Texas (RDTT) is a 501c non profit performing dance company based in Carrollton, Texas and Dianne Cole Johnson School of Dance is the official home of RDTT.

Repertory Dance Theatre of Texas was founded in 1985 under the name of Carrollton Repertory Dance Company, and has grown from a small studio company of eight dancers to a full pre-professional company.  The company consists of dancers ages13 through adult from cities around the North Texas area.  RDTT also includes an apprentice company of dancers ages 8 through 14. RDTT is governed by a board and supported by an organized guild and is a member of The Dance Council.

RTTD’s main purpose is to provide an outlet for the serious dancer to gain a more extensive performing experience in a professional atmosphere. Company members participate with aspirations for a professional career, or just for fun. It is our desire to entertain and at the same time offer a deeper understanding of dance and the dancers’ intense physical and mental commitment to the art.

RDTT is best known for it’s annual production of “The Night Before Christmas” presented every December, but also has a repertoire of modern and jazz pieces. RDTT produced “The Night Before Christmas” was first performed by RDTT in 1991. The company is sought after for many performances throughout the North Texas area and has been invited to perform by the State Fair of Texas, Carrollton County Fair and Arts Fiesta, Las Colinas Canalfest, Montage, Old City Park’s Candlelight Tour, Scottish Rite Hospital, Plano Cultural Arts Committee, local Miss America Pageants, The Grand Kempenski Hotel’s Oktoberfest,  “The Nutcracker” in the Malachite Showroom, and Dance for the Planet. Denton Civic Ballet has invited RDTT to present pieces for adjudication to Southwest Regional Ballet Festival, and to perform with DCB at SWRBA and throughout the year. Ballet Art Arlington has invited dancers to perform in the “Nutcracker”.

Company membership is open to any eligible dancer chosen through auditions held in the Spring of each year. The RDTT Board of Directors is dedicated to a philosophy of civic and sound financial responsibility. We invite your interest, participation, and support.

The 16th annual performance of the "The Night Before Christmas" is an enchanting story ballet of "The Night Before Christmas". This ballet has been enjoyed by audiences ages 3 to 93 for the past sixteen years.

After a party in her home, the young girl falls asleep reading "The Night Before Christmas". Her dream is brought to life by the Christmas Fairy and includes swirling Snow en pointe, Angels, Mischievous Mice, Dancing Gingerbread Dolls, and beautiful Sugarplum Fairies. Santa's Elves and Reindeer bring life size dolls to the little girl, however, nothing pleases her. Santa finally presents her with dancing "Two Front Teeth" she doesn't need and dancing Coal she will receive if she does not change her ways. Seeing the error of her ways, she begs Santa for forgiveness and accepts the beautiful Music Box Doll. As well as beautiful dances en pointe, also included are performances in modern, jazz, and tap. Dancers include members of Repertory Dance Theatre of Texas, as well as other dancers from the community, and guest performers.
